Fawn Hollow Library Media Center
Welcome to the Fawn Hollow Library Media Center Blog!
Dear Parents:
I have been having a wonderful time working with your children this year.
We have spent a good portion of September 10th-15th celebrating National Hispanic Cultural Month. We have discussed the 31 countries of the world which are Spanish speaking countries, read wonderful hispanic tall tales, like Dona Flor by Pat Mora, tricksters stories like Borreghita and the Coyote, and Abuela.
Some 2nd grade classes and some 3rd grade classes are very excited as we are making plans to have international penpals...it will be a class to class penpal experience where we will use technology to see and speak to eachother, exchange ideas, see what school is like in other countries, help others who may be less fortunate than us. I bet our kids will be surprised to see the differences and similarities between our school and others around the world.
Learning your way around the Library?
Can you do the Dewey?? Go to: www.thrall.org/dewey/ and practice!
Learn more about the Dewey Decimal system by going to: www.kidsclick.org/dewey/html !!
Plans are in the works for some very fun Little Readers Big Nights Out---for Kindergarten and 1st grade students...keep your eyes open... for these super-spectacular Friday night once a month event!
Cool Autumn breezes are here...colorful leaves floating in the air...when winter comes I hope to revive the Winter Library club...we will do art projects, graphic novel club for the 4th graders, Magic Tree House for the 3rd graders, and 2nd graders....
